“He will quiet you with His Love”

“The LORD your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy,
He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy”
Zephaniah 3:17

For we cannot comprehend the tenderness God displays in the lives of His children, yes, and even the unjust is granted mercy that they would see the goodness of the LORD in hopes of their repentance. So if God will show such grace to the wicked, how unthinkable and unsearchable is His grace and mercy more so to those who are His? For His love is amazing! This same shepherd who in tenderness guides and guards is also a victorious warrior, who with just a word commands the demonic hosts to be still and dare not touch the children of the living God. The greatest barrier to rest, the kind of rest that can quiet the soul, is the adversary called fear. This single enemy cripples the will to act; it robs the heart of courage, and makes a mountain seem larger than God. For what hope is there if one has lost heart to believe, and why would God be faithful when one of His has lost their way? For all the angels rejoice when just one repentant sinner turns to Christ in faith and the LORD smiles, but when a wayward son or daughter returns to a lost fellowship once shared with the heavenly trinity, our Father rejoices and shouts with joy and sings for His own. O how He holds us in the quietness of His love. For there is no power of fear, nor can any demon prevail against the sovereign Almighty LORD of all, who guards His children under the shadow of His wings, in tenderness and grace, with shouts of joy.      For His children will rest in the Father’s quiet love.
